The Cerro Coso Coyotes hosted the Mt. San Jacinto Eagles on Thursday, October 3rd, for another Inland Empire Athletic Conference matchup. Despite showing steady improvement as the match went on, the Coyotes fell in straight sets, 9-25, 20-25, 23-25.
After a tough opening set, Cerro Coso bounced back with stronger play in sets two and three, pushing the Eagles deep into each frame with more aggressive attacking and improved defensive coverage. Sophomore Kori Phillips led the offense with 7 kills, 2 aces, and 7 digs, earning a total of 11 points. Jiana Alcaraz-Carter added 2 kills, 6 digs, and a strong showing at the net with 5 block assists. Setter Isabella Chavez contributed 13 assists and 2 digs, while Carlie Kramer chipped in 3 kills and 4 digs on the night.
Though the Coyotes couldn't complete the comeback, they showed grit and growth throughout the match, keeping the energy high and the crowd engaged until the final point.
The Coyotes will return home Friday, October 10th at 5 p.m. to host the Chaffey Panthers for their WHITE OUT game. Fans are encouraged to wear white and pack the gym to show their Coyote pride!
