After hosting the Cerro Coso Tri and splitting the two games including a four-set win over Rio Hondo, the Cerro Coso volleyball squad took the court hosting Antelope Valley College. After falling behind by two sets, the Coyotes attempted to force a decisive fifth set but fell short in four sets against the Marauders, 23-25, 13-25, 25-23, and 24-26.

"We continue to grow together as a team and find back in matches. Our focus is maintaining consistent play throughout as we learn to play with one another," said head coach James Belluscio on his team's performance.

The Coyotes' offense ended the game with 36 kills led by Kori Phillips with 12, Carlie Kramer with seven, and Brooke Murphy with six. But they made 16 errors on 113 attempts for a .177 kill percentage. They also had 32 assists, led by Isabella Chavez with 26 and Seliah Smith with four.

In serves, the home team had four aces with one each from Jasmine Seeraj, Murphy, Smith, and Kramer. They finished with 10 serving errors and seven receiving errors.

On the defensive end, Cerro Coso had 52 digs led by Smith with 14, Phillips with 10, and Seeraj with nine. The Coyotes had 16 solo blocks led by Kramer with eight, six assisted blocks led by Kramer with three, and nine blocking errors.

The Coyotes are on the road for the next four games including a tri match. They begin their road trip at Allan Hancock on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The next game is against a familiar opponent in Clovis Community College on Sept. 5, then at the Coalinga Tri against Coalinga College and San Jose before closing the trip at Lemoore on Sept. 12.
